TimberLab’s contribution –
Assisted designers in deciding the best system to achieve the manufacture & construction of the complex forms; i.e. the building up from wooden blocks.
Manufactured 480 rimu blocks & panels that form the irregular shape of the waka huia (treasure box); illustrating the complex forms and shapes that can be achieved with CNC machining. Final shaping achieved using Greenmount Espies 5 Axis Chronos CNC.
Showcased the difference between mediocre & high-end detailing; exhibiting the decorative nature of structural elements that can be achieved.
Manufactured and prefabricated LVL portal exoskeleton structure, supporting complete rimu waka huia.
