"I went down to Wellington for the opening of our Archive room. It was overwhelming to see the project realised.

The achievement is a testament to all involved.

This is a very loud thank you for taking our unique idea, and getting it built! And so beautifully.

A special thank you to Timberlab and Greenmount for being there from the beginning - with all the goodwill and advice that allowed us to take the first steps towards resolution.

This one was definitely a team effort!!"

Our drawings were sent off to TimberLab, who put together a model, including every single piece of timber, so that they could check it – then we double-checked. There were about 500 pages of shop drawings for the project, including these incredible schedules that were like a computer language. If the model was slightly wrong, it would have created havoc on site, but we managed to avoid that completely. The tolerance was plus or minus half a millimetre, which is kind of loony – half a millimetre on timber that’s 12m long. The building was actually sized to the biggest bits of LVL that you can buy. In order to be rigid, all of the joints had to slot together perfectly and TimberLab – bless them – managed to do it. The team on site were real craftsmen, too". - Designer and professor at the University of Auckland, Andrew Barrie
NZ Strong
"NZ Strong successfully engaged Timberlab on 2 of our recent award winning projects, namely Avondale College Stage 3 and Otahuhu Recreation Precinct. On both projects Grant and the Timberlab team were extremely professional in their approach and advice and were proactive throughout the whole process. Both projects had numerous tricky routing and other preparation for steel connections, which they produced with the very high degree of quality required in line with the tight tolerances involved".

“The Otahuhu Recreation Precinct – Aquatic Centre & Library was a geometrically and structurally demanding project that required precision in the fabrication of the curved glulam rafters and connections. No two rafters were the same and the high load demand on the connections meant there was very little room for error.
We were very impressed to see the quality assurance processes and cutting edge technology that Timberlab employed at their factory.
The rafters were installed quickly and without issue within the very tight construction tolerances.”

Hi Owen & Timberlab team,
Thanks for your support on the Cathedral Grammar project. We pulled it off and finished the job on time! Today we received Code of Compliance and the school can start operating in the entire complex next week. The buildings look magnificent & we get many great comments from the public. The architect Andrew Barrie countlessly mentioned the fantastic workmanship.
A fast-tracked job well done by everyone involved.
Please pass on our regards to your team on the floor.

Ma'ufanga Free Church of Tonga

My name is Nouna Likiliki. I am the daughter of Moses Taukafa, the builder of the above mentioned church in Tonga. I live in Nelson and I just got back from Tonga. I went to the opening celebration of this new church and my father would like me to send you some photos of the complete project. He asked me to thank you for your outstanding cooperation and kind assistance. He spoke very highly of you and how you and your company helped with this project become a successful one.

2build says “the curved laminated beams, capped with a curved roof to enhance the building’s elegance against its coastal backdrop was an architectural challenge”. McIntosh came to the fore to manufacture the structurally engineered curved beams specific to the building, transported them to site & craned them into position.

Paul Roberts, Managing Director of 2Build - “They really have risen to meet the challenge that this job demands. The finishing is met with the same skill that the job started with.”

Timber Water Storage Tanks

“Space frames for the large roof structures of water storage tanks built by Timbertank Enterprises Ltd. (over 250 cum tanks) utilise Glulam laminated beams in their construction because they can rely on their strength, accuracy of profiling and quality of timber treatment,” says Managing Director, Justin Jordan.

“The team at McIntosh supply our needs quickly and efficiently,” says Justin. “Their product enables us to build strong but lightweight structures very economically. The benefits for us of their finger-jointed laminated and tanalised beams relate particularly to weight and ease of handling. It’s a no-brainer compared to having to use steel.”
Ngongataha Bridge

Kelvin Landon from LHT Design says, “we enjoyed working closely with McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd, ensuring the structure was simple to build, cost-effective & in-line with the client’s needs. The structural frame of the bridge curves in differing directions, creating a crossing that carries the required load, but also has a soft visual impact.”
